Complete Guide on what to Bring on a Road Trip

1. First Aid Kit

Medical emergencies can be pretty random sometimes. That’s why it’s smart to be ready, especially when you’re out in the woods. Always keep an emergency kit handy and be ready for anything that comes your way.

2. Don’Forget the Snacks!

One time, my hubby and I took a road trip to Tennessee and guess what? The only thing we brought was water! I can’t believe we did that—I ended up with a killer headache from being super hungry. Lesson learned, right? I totally recommend keeping some snacks in the car. You can even stash some unopened dry goods in there just in case you and the kids get stuck in traffic!

3. Car Organizer

If you’ve got kids, a car organizer is totally a game changer. So, what do I mean by “Car Organizer?” It’s kind of like the one you see in the picture below. A buddy of ours actually gave us this one, and we use it for all our emergency baby stuff.

4. Bring a Cooler

When you’re on a long drive and can’t really stop anywhere—like in the middle of “Nowhere”—having a little cooler is a total must. Want to whip up a quick sandwich in the car? That cooler’s your best friend for keeping lunch meat, fruit, or drinks nice and cold.

5. Jumper Cables

I can’t count how many times we’ve come to the rescue for folks who’ve been stranded with dead batteries. We’ve definitely used jumper cables way more for other people than for ourselves, which is kind of hilarious! But hey, we’re always down to give a helping hand when someone’s in a jam. Seriously, even if you’re not hitting the road, make sure you’ve got jumper cables in your car. You never know when you might need ‘em!

6. Portable Chargers

When you’re out on a walking trail, strolling through an amusement park, or catching a flight, having a portable charger is a total lifesaver. They’re super cheap and easy to tote around, especially when you’re away from your car for a bit.

7. Always Bring Water

Water Water Water! It was very important to always bring water on road trips. I would even recommend just keeping water in the car period. You never know if you may be suck in traffic for a period of time. Water will keep you hydrated in a way that sugary drink won’t.

8. Sunglasses

Eye protection may not seem that important to some, but it very important. Always have sunglasses available in the car. Having sunglasses can help prevent car accidents if you’re having trouble seeing from the glare of the sun, and you can save a trip from going to the eye doctor.

9. Bug Spray

10. Hand Sanitizer

When you can’t get to a restroom anytime soon, having hand sanitizer on hand is super important. Keeping hand sanitizer in the car in general should be a common habitat in my opinion.
