Popcorn and Umeko

Meet my two silly cats Popcorn (Gray Tabby) 10 and Umeko (Black Tabby) 6. They were both kittens when they became all mine. Popcorn was found by a coworker under her car back in 2013, I think he was maybe 7 weeks old at the time. I told my coworker that I would take him home without even asking my boyfriend (now husband) at the time. Umeko came from a local cat shelter in Atlanta in 2017 when she was 5 months old. When I brought Umeko home, Popcorn was so curious and a gentlemen like always. Umeko on the other hand hissed at him for about the first three days. I kept her in my bedroom for the first three days and would sometimes crack the door so they could see each other. On the second day they were playing with each other under the door. After day three, they slowly but surely became friends.

Popcorn is my gentle giant. My boy is a big boy by nature, the most affectionate cat you’ll ever met in your life and quite the gentlemen when it comes to Umeko. He is considered a senior cat now and of course not as active as he was when he was a young cat, but if you give him a toy that moves he will definitely chase after it. One way we can keep him active is letting him walk around in the backyard sometimes. He loves being outdoors. Since Popcorn has become a senior, I was advised by his vet to give him fish oil and now feed him Science Diet perfect weight to control his weight due to him not being as active. I’m happy to say that he is a healthy happy boy.

Umeko is my sassy diva. She is much more moodier than Popcorn and is only affectionate when she is in the mood for it. Umeko is an active cat with no signs of slowing down. Love, love, loves to play. Surprisedly, she is not a fan of treats unless it is dental treats. Treats like salmon or chicken flavored Temptations, Wellness etc. nope not her style.
