Did you know that pedicures are actually healthy for the body? Pedicures help blood flow in your feet while improving oxygen flow and YES guys also get pedicures. I’ve seen men receiving pedicures several times.
I took my husband to get a pedicure on his birthday a few years ago and he was a little reluctant at first but he actually enjoyed. He did get a lot of attention at the salon though, and the women there were surprised that he’d never gotten one before.

Benefits of Pedicures
Relieves Stress During these trying times, stress seems to be sitting right on our shoulders and I can’t stress enough how important self care is. Self care can be a hard thing to do when you’re ALWAYS working, and if you’re a parent. I will be the first one to tell you, as a new parent I definitely have to use my time wisely if I want to squeeze in self care and I do mean squeeze. I went from getting a pedicure maybe once every 2 or 3 months to maybe once every 5 months, but I do try to do something for myself when I get the chance.
Prevents Dead Skin Build-up A lot of dead skin build-up on your feet (in other words a callus) can change your whole walk and could be painful. Not to mention this can be an easy place for germs to build up where corns and blisters could build-up.

Improves Nail Health Pedicures can also promote nail health by preventing blackened toenails, something that I’ve personally had before on one of my big toes. My toe became injured while working. A black coloring started spreading a bit on my toe, and it worried me to the point that I decided to see a Podiatrist. The Podiatrist explained to me that the discoloring came from improper footwear while walking for a long period of time. My nail rubbed against my shoe and caused the injury. He told me to allow the toe to heal with time while prescribing me with medication.
What I would not Recommend
- If you have an open wound on your foot I would not recommend getting a pedicure. The Nail Specialist would most likely not work on your foot if an open wound is noticeable. If you are unsure if it would be okay to still get a pedicure with an injury, ask the nail specialist to take a look at your foot and they will tell you Yay or Nay.
- If you have a skin allergy I would not recommend to rush to get a pedicure. It would wise to check with a dermatologist prior. Believe it or not one can have an allergy towards certain nail polishes and creams applied to the skin.
