You’re in for a treat! Welcome to a vibrant community where individuals share similar experiences. Although I may not be a medical professional, I’m delighted to inform you that I’ve come across numerous women who’ve had wonderfully smooth pregnancies in their 30s. Let me share an inspiring story: my own grandmother and her sister joyfully welcomed their little ones in their 40s during the 1980s, experiencing pregnancies that were just as joyful and healthy as those of women in their 20s. So, if you’re actively pursuing parenthood, embrace the boundless hope that surrounds you! You are not alone on this incredible journey.
Many women are now embracing motherhood for the first time in their 30s and 40s, and I am proud to be one of them. At the age of 32, I felt a deep sense of readiness to embark on this beautiful journey of motherhood. To my delight, I conceived just one month after removing my birth control. The process was smooth and effortless for me, and I am incredibly grateful for that. Choosing to wait until my 30s to become a mother was a decision I made with utmost care and consideration. Looking back, I have absolutely no regrets because I waited for the right time that felt comfortable and in alignment with my life.
One of the first things my Physician told me to do the day she removed my birth control, was to start taking Folic Acid vitamins that day. So that’s what I did. Right when I started ovulating the month I had my birth control removed, I ended up getting the shingles. My physician directly told me “don’t try to conceive on this medication.” So us trying to conceive was put on pause due to the medication that I had to take for the shingles. The next month, after the shingles healed, and after I was off the medication, when I ovulated again I got pregnant very quickly.
So, how long did it take to get pregnant? One month after my birth control was removed. I type this to say, that we all often hear how trying to get pregnant after 30 something is much harder. Speaking from personal experience only, I can say that most women I know that have become pregnant between the ages of 30 through 40, had no issues trying to conceive, myself included. Now again, I am no doctor. I am only speaking from personal experience and relationships that I have with other women who became moms after 30.
